Anna (Mea) McMahon
LPC
with Wright Wellness since 2023
The canvas of my education is DFW. Here, I received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Counseling/Psychology. I have been a fully licensed LPC since 2013, but have been in the mental health field for over 15 years. My experience is diverse as are the settings I received it in including private practice, hospitals, group homes, rehab centers, and community mental health.
Therapy begins the very moment you make the brave decision to step into that unknown to know yourself better and seek wholeness for yourself. Before you even contact the office, you have become a catalyst in an amazing journey by deciding to step and trust someone with your story. It is sacred to share your story and let yourself be known and make your voice heard. I honor that. You are not broken. You are simply open to the possibility of something more. In case no one has told you, I am proud of your brave.
As far as therapeutic approaches go, I would best describe myself as eclectic. This means I pull from many approaches to meet my client where they are at. With my child clients, I prescribe to a child centered play therapy approach. With children, often, the behavior speaks. Depending on their maturity, I will also mix in TBRI, CBT, EMDR, and if needed a trauma informed lens. With my teens, I want them to know their voice matters, so I prescribe to a similar approach that I do with my adults as well: I will use a trauma informed approach, if appropriate. The mix for my teens and adults is EMDR, CBT, Gestalt, Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered, and Solution Focused. Wherever you are at, I will meet you there and let you set the pace and if you give me permission, I will challenge you every session to expand how you see yourself.
