Counseling
What happens in my first therapy session?
Your first session involves an evaluation of your needs and treatment goals. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy and determine if we're a good fit to work together. This is also your chance to ask questions and get comfortable with your clinician.
How long does therapy take?
The length of therapy varies based on your individual needs and goals. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy (8-12 sessions), while others prefer ongoing support. Your clinician will work with you to determine what's best for your situation.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
Our clinicians use a variety of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, trauma-informed therapy, motivational interviewing, and more. Each clinician tailors their approach to your unique needs.
Do you offer couples or family counseling?
Yes, several of our clinicians offer couples and family counseling in addition to individual therapy. Check individual clinician profiles to see who offers these services.
Insurance & Fees
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, many of our clinicians accept major insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna/Evernorth, and Optum/UHC. Coverage varies by clinician—visit their profile page for specific plans accepted.
How much does therapy cost?
Rates vary by clinician and service type. Diagnostic evaluations typically range from $100–$200, and individual counseling sessions range from $75–$165. Visit each clinician's profile page for their specific fees.
What is a super-bill?
A super-bill is a detailed receipt that includes diagnosis codes, procedure codes, and payment information. If we don't accept your insurance, you can submit a super-bill to your insurance company to request reimbursement for out-of-network services.
Do you offer reduced-rate options?
Yes! All of our clinicians work with Open Path Collective, a non-profit program offering reduced-rate sessions for those who qualify. Visit openpathcollective.org to see if you're eligible.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept exact cash, check, and credit/debit cards. Payment is requested at the time of service. Payment plans are available upon request.
Telehealth
What is telehealth therapy?
Telehealth allows you to attend therapy sessions via secure, HIPAA-compliant video from the comfort of your home or any private location. All you need is a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera.
Which clinicians offer telehealth?
Many of our clinicians offer telehealth services, and some provide telehealth-only sessions. Check individual clinician profiles for telehealth availability.
Can I do telehealth if I live outside of Texas?
Telehealth services are only available to clients located in states where the clinician is licensed. Most of our clinicians are licensed in Texas. Please check with the specific clinician for multi-state licensure.
Medication Management
What is medication management?
Medication management involves working with a psychiatric provider to evaluate, prescribe, and monitor psychiatric medications for conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD, and more. It's often used in conjunction with therapy.
Do I need a referral for medication management?
No referral is necessary. You can schedule directly with one of our psychiatric providers. However, we do recommend coordinating care with a therapist for comprehensive treatment.
